How to Fold a Cube Net
Thank you for purchasing our product!
Games with dice are engaging and entertaining and we’re here to tell you that there are also educational benefits to dice games when students are tasked with building their own dice from 2D nets. That’s why we love to include them in our products. Fun!
To make your life easier (that’s what we’re all about here at That’s So Montessori), we’ve found this helpful instructional video on how to turn a 2D net into a 3D cube!
The steps to building are pretty simple:
ποΈ Colour the 2D nets before they are cut and folded.
π₯ Watch the video below to learn how to fold the net into a cube.
βοΈ Cut the 2D net out along the edges.
π² Get their hands ready to fold!
π₯ Watch Christine A Bossman as she builds a cube. She uses glue, but you could also use tape if you like. Tune in for the first four minutes as she demonstrates how to build the cube and stick around for the entire video if you want to turn your dice into decor hung around your learning environment. Fun!
Benefits of Students Building Dice From 2D Nets
Great! Your students can now build their own dice cubes from 2D nets, but why exactly is that so great?
Let’s chat about all of the benefits that students get from building their own dice. That’s so Montessori!
π¦ For one, it helps students understand the concept of a three-dimensional object. They can see how a cube is made up of six squares, and how those squares can be arranged to form a three-dimensional object.
π² Building dice also helps students differentiate between 3D shapes and 2D nets. It’s also a great way to review and practice geometry skills, identify parts of shapes, and gain spacial awareness.
ποΈ Plus, when students build their own dice, they can colour them however they like – making them even more personalized and therefore even more fun to use.
π So have your students build their own dice from 2D nets to play with this math game with dice! They’ll be sure to love it.
